Basicly you need a program to convert the point data taking into account a survey library that is used to tell the software what is lines v's points.You can do some stuff with excel joining point strings but its not a simple task, get it wrong and do you like spagetti because thats what your drawing will look like. This is something that I have though about a lot as point data is pretty common and not necessarily from a total station.There is some cheaper products on the market and they will do way more than just import your data.
